“Resilience and Innovation through Multidisciplinary Research”

The Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Colombo held its Annual Research Conference (ARC-2025) in collaboration with Sri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi on November 21, 2025, at the faculty premises. This conference was themed Resilience and Innovation through Multidisciplinary Research, bringing together prominent academics, international scholars, and postgraduate students. A total of 90 abstracts were selected for presentations under 11 tracks that encompassed various multidisciplinary fields. The Vice Chancellor, Professor Indika Karunathilake, graced the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest and commended the Faculty of Graduate Studies for successfully hosting a conference with international participants.

Following the national anthem, the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Professor A. A. Azeez, delivered the welcome address. The inauguration featured three keynote speeches presented by distinguished international scholars who were physically present at the event. Professor Philip Yu from the Department of Mathematics and Information Technology, Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) presented the inaugural keynote address on AI and Generative AI in Medicine and Education. The subsequent keynote address was delivered by Professor Simrit Kaur, the Principal of Sri Ram College, University of Delhi, who emphasized the importance of multidisciplinary research in building resilient communities and knowledge production. Dr. Shen Ba from the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) delivered the third keynote speech, focusing on the theme of Transforming Collaborative Inquiry: Opportunities and Challenges of Generative AI-Assisted Feedback. All three keynote addresses offered deep insights into multidisciplinary research and inspired the audience to go beyond the traditional disciplinary protocols in conducting research. The conference was co-chaired by Professor Chaminda Padmakumara and Dr. Nuradhi Jayasiri and a large gathering of participants, including the Rector of the Sri Palee Campus, Deans of the Faculties, the Registrar of the University of Colombo, academic members, coordinators of the FGS programs, administrative officers, and paper presenters, was present at the inaugural session. Professor Chaminda Padmakumara proposed the vote of thanks, and following lunch, the technical sessions commenced.
