PgDCP 2025/26 (Weekend Programme) Field Visit

The students of the Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychosocial Support (PgDCP) 2025/26 (Weekend Programme), FGS, University of Colombo, successfully concluded an insightful 2-day field visit to Galle on the 6th and 7th of June 2026.

Bridging the gap between theory and practice, students visited the Nawajeewa Amadyapa Hada Sewaya (Drug Rehabilitation Center) in Rumassala and the Bonavista Elders’ Home in Unawatuna. The day was filled with empathy, conducting group counseling discussions and handing over essential donations to support these communities.

After a productive day, the group enjoyed a wonderful night of relaxation and fellowship at the Araliya Beach Hotel.

The visit concluded on Day 2 with a tour of the Unawatuna Mental Hospital, where students had impactful discussions with medical professionals regarding mental health and observational techniques. A truly fulfilling educational journey!
