Introduction

The Master of Manufacturing Management program is designed to equip professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the manufacturing sector. It integrates principles of engineering, management, and technology to address modern industrial challenges. The course prepares students to take on leadership roles in manufacturing by enhancing their problem-solving, decision-making, and operational efficiency capabilities.

By the end of this program, students will be able to:

The program is structured into multiple modules covering key areas of manufacturing management. These include:

  • Fundamentals of Manufacturing and Operations
  • Lean Manufacturing and Process Optimization
  • Supply Chain and Logistics Management
  • Quality Control and Risk Management
  • Technology and Innovation in Manufacturing
  • Financial and Strategic Management in Manufacturing
  • Research Project / Industrial Case Study

The program may consist of coursework, practical applications, case studies, and a final project to ensure a comprehensive learning experience.

  • A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University/ Institution with manufacturing and allied subject area; OR
  • Any other Bachelor’s degree, with learning/work experience in manufacturing and allied subject area; OR
  • The Postgraduate Diploma in Manufacturing Management offered by the FGS; OR
  • A Postgraduate Diploma offered by any recognized university in a relevant discipline acceptable to the Senate of the University; OR
  • Professional qualification in manufacturing or allied subject area from a recognized professional body which is acceptable to the Faculty Board of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Senate of the University with prior learning/work experience in manufacturing and allied subject area; OR
  • Completion of NVQ level 7 (equivalent to Bachelor’s degree in SLQF) with relevant work experience in manufacturing and allied subject area as determined by the Faculty Board and the Senate of the University;
    AND
  • Good knowledge of English language and satisfactory performance at a selection test and/or interview.
  • A person who wishes to apply for the FGS programmes shall forward the application to the Senior Assistant Registrar, Faculty of Graduate Studies, No.35/30, Pro. Stanley Wijesundara Mawatha, Colombo 07.

  • The students will be selected through an interview.
